Gilbert is the firms senior partner having been a partner in the firm since 1982. He has ultimate responsibility for the firms marketing and development activity in which there is as strong an emphasis on maintaining close relationships with existing clients as looking for opportunities to add to the client portfolio. His early work was as a property conveyancer which left him with a permanent fixation for quality processes and customer service. Gilbert represents the firm on the Executive Committee of the Conveyancing Association the UK organisation of leading firms serving the property conveyancing market and the lending industry. Gilbert is qualified in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and his areas of legal expertise include business or share purchases/ sales/ mergers, commercial property acquisitions/ sales/ development, residential property development and trusts, inheritance tax, wills and estate administration. Gilbert also has experience in professional negligence matters, in particular in relation to solicitors negligence in property transactions advising both lender and insurer clients. He is a member of the NI Commercial Property Lawyers Association and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
